APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR OF INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT
____________________________________________________________________________________
Portland, Ore. An advocate for Oregon's arts and communities, Joanne Van Ness Menashe, has been appointed Oregon Symphony Director of Individual Development beginning Nov. 12, Symphony President Tony Woodcock announced Nov. 2.
Van Ness Menashe's previous positions have included fundraising for the arts and non-profit organizations in addition to her work in the corporate sector. Her career to date has included Development Director for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Portland; Executive Director of the Downtown Corvallis Association; and Regional Arts In Education Coordinator. "Her community work in Portland and the state is very impressive, serving with organizations such the Oregon Advocates for the Arts; the Oregon Zoo; Oregon Health Sciences University's Campaign for Women's Health and the National Council for Jewish Women," Woodcock said.
Van Ness Menashe received a bachelor of science from Oregon State University in 1979, received certification from Western Arts Management Institute, Southern Oregon State College, in 1984 and graduated from the Real Estate School of Oregon in 1994.
In her new position as Director of Individual Development, Van Ness Menashe will be responsible for all annual fund gifts, including individual gifts less than $50,000 with a focus on multi-year commitments. She will also oversee benefits definition and the Oregon Symphony's membership and telefunding development.
The Symphony's recently appointed development director, Graham McReynolds, was involved in making the appointment, Woodcock said.
