SYMPHONY PRESIDENT TONY WOODCOCK
TO DISCUSS KORNGOLD AND BERNSTEIN AT JANUARY LISTENING GROUP
______________________________________________________________________________

Portland, Ore. … In a free, open forum for people with little or no formal music education, Oregon Symphony President Tony Woodcock will host a discussion titled "Film Music into Concert Music ? Masterpiece or Fraud? How Korngold and Bernstein Broke the Mold," during Fortissimo's January Listening group meeting Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Classical Millennium Northwest (801 NW 23rd Ave.) The Fortissimo Listening Group is sponsored by Classical Millennium Northwest. Fortissimo is the Oregon Symphony's young professional volunteer organization.

Tony Woodcock joined the Oregon Symphony as President in 1998 and says he's been having a great time and is now known personally by most of the best restaurants in the city. The Symphony is a constant feature in his life and he enjoys most all of his relationships with the musicians. Tony made his "debut" with the orchestra recently, narrating Howard Blake's "The Snowman," which he describes as a masterpiece. Tony can be heard frequently on KBPS and as a guest speaker for many organizations in Portland.

Fortissimo provides the listening group as an open forum for people to share thoughts on music and expose themselves to new perspectives in a friendly environment. Fortissimo Listening Group meets at Classical Millennium once a month (801 NW 23rd Ave.) and is free and open to the public. For more information and a schedule of meetings, call 503-228-4294, e-mail fortissimo@orsymphony.org or visit the Symphony's Web site at www.orsymphony.org.
